Finance Manager
Finance Manager – Magle Biopolymers
About Magle Biopolymers
Magle Biopolymers is part of the Magle Group – an international life science group with strong roots in dextran technology. We develop and manufacture advanced polymer-based materials used in medical products, contributing to improving patients’ lives.
As a CDMO entity within the group, Magle Biopolymers operates in a regulated environment with high quality requirements. Quality, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration are core elements of our daily work, and we continuously strive to improve our processes and solutions.
About the Position
In the role of Finance Manager, you will become part of the Magle Biopolymers management team in Køge and take full responsibility for the finance and accounting function of the company. You will report directly to the Managing Director and have one Accounting Assistant reporting into you.
This position re-establishes a dedicated local finance function in Køge. Finance was historically run from Køge in Business Central, but moved to Sweden after Magle Biopolymers (previously PKC) was acquired by Magle Chemoswed and accounting was switched to Visma. Today this leaves us with an inefficient setup where production planning and orders are handled in Business Central while customer invoices are manually re-keyed into Visma in Sweden, where payments and accounting are run – with limited cost controlling and no real integration between the two systems. A central part of your mandate is to change this – by migrating accounting back into Business Central in Magle Biopolymers, building a robust cost-controlling framework, and making finance a true business partner to operations and commercial.
The role combines classical financial accounting and reporting with forward-looking budgeting, forecasting and business controlling. You will own the numbers – both how they are produced and how they are used to steer the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Take full ownership of finance and accounting for Magle Biopolymers, including monthly closing, statutory reporting, VAT, audit coordination, and external accountant interaction
• Lead the migration from Visma (today operated out of Magle ChemoSwed in Sweden) to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in Magle Biopolymers, including chart of accounts design, opening balances, and migration of historical data where it makes sense for future cost controlling and trend analysis
• Establish integrated financial workflows in Business Central together with Commercial and Operations – eliminating manual re-entry of customer invoices and connecting sales, purchasing, production, and finance in a single system
• Build and own the budgeting and forecasting process – annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and rolling cash-flow projections – in close dialogue with the Managing Director and the function leads
• Implement cost controlling and actual-vs-budget reporting at function, site, and product level, including CoGS analysis, contribution margin by product and customer, and tracking of key efficiency initiatives
• Develop monthly management reporting and KPI dashboards that give the management team and the Board real-time visibility on financial performance
• Act as business partner to function leads – challenge cost levels, support investment cases, and provide financial input to commercial decisions
• Recruit, manage and develop the Accounting Assistant, ensuring clear division of responsibilities between transactional accounting and controlling activities
• Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, and documentation in line with the requirements of a regulated life science company
• Coordinate with group finance in Sweden during and after the transition to ensure consistent reporting into the Magle Group
We Imagine That You
• Hold a relevant degree in finance, accounting, business economics or similar (cand.merc.aud., HD-R, MSc Finance & Accounting or equivalent)
• Bring a solid foundation in accounting and audit – either from an audit firm or from a finance department where you have worked closely with audit, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience from a mid-sized audit firm is just as valuable as a Big Four background
• Combine that with hands-on experience in financial and business controlling: budgeting, forecasting, cost controlling, and partnering with operational and commercial stakeholders. Candidates with the strongest profile have lived in both worlds
• Are comfortable working both with backward-looking accounting (closing the books, ensuring quality of the numbers) and forward-looking financial steering (budgets, forecasts, business cases, scenario analysis)
• Have hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central – ideally including involvement in an implementation, migration, or roll-out project. Experience with Visma is an advantage
• Are confident with Excel at an advanced level and curious about using modern tools (including generative AI) to improve financial processes
• Are structured, detail-oriented, and quality-driven, while also being pragmatic and able to prioritize in a company in transition
• Communicate clearly and professionally with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, and enjoy explaining the numbers in a way that drives action
• Are comfortable taking responsibility for one direct report (the Accounting Assistant) and for developing the finance function over time
• Speak and write English fluently; Danish is a strong advantage
We Offer
• A key role in an international and growing life science company at an exciting point in its development
• The opportunity to build the local finance function from the ground up, with a clear mandate from management and ownership
• A central role in a company-wide ERP transition with broad cross-functional exposure
• A professional, collaborative, and quality-focused working environment
• Close interaction with management, commercial, production, and operations teams – and visibility to the Board
• Opportunities for professional and personal development
